About the suburb Beaconsfield

Beaconsfield is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Fremantle. Named after a property known as 'Beaconsfield' located in the area in the 1880s, the name was officially adopted from the post office on 1 August 1894. The origin is unknown, but the suburb is probably named after the town in England or the Earl of Beaconsfield, Benjamin Disraeli, a former Conservative Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Beaconsfield is predominantly a low to medium density residential suburb with extensive community facilities including South Fremantle Senior High School, Challenger TAFE, primary schools, open space recreation reserves and local shops.

Named after a property known as 'Beaconsfield' which was located in the area in the 1880s and the name was officially adopted for the Post Office on the 1 August, 1894. The origin is unknown, but probably named after the town in England of the same name or the Earl of Beaconsfield, Benjamin Disraeli, the former Tory Prime Minister of England in 1881. Disraeli died in April 1882 and was created Earl of Beaconsfield in 1879.
